The Great Outage of ‘23

It’s been a rough week over here. It’s been the sort of week where you just can’t do anything, literally. You see, the Intenet was out. (I’ll pause here a moment to allow you all to process the horror.)

It went out Monday around ten in the morning. I wasn’t too worried. I thought it’d be back on before evening. It was not.

It stayed out Tuesday, as well, despite AT&T’s assurances that they were working on it and it was a top priority and it would definitely, absolutely be solved within the next twenty-four hours.

That was really one of the most frustrating aspects. Once the twenty-four hours hit, they’d just reset the estimate and the outage so it never looked like it’d been out longer than twenty-four hours and always looked like they’d have it ton by the end of the day, guaranteed.

It was so frustrating. Luckily, we have jumped ship and are now properly online, thanks to Xfinity who came through for us in our hour of need.

It’s kind of funny now because we’re still monitoring the outage, just out of curiosity. As of Thursday afternoon, there is still an outage in our area. Just…how? How is AT&T unable to fix it before now? It’s baffling!

I sort of thought AT&T owed us a couple hundred thousand dollars in lost income and emotional damages, but I’ve decided to let it go. I’m chill like that.

In writing news—Somewhat Before is officially here! It’s on sale on Amazon, but if you want to get a copy for free, just sign up for my newsletter to receive a copy.

Really, you want to be subscribed to my newsletter anyway. I’ve only sent out two emails thus far, but both were very relevant, if not entertaining. But for those of you who guard your email address like a dragon watching over his treasure, it is for sale on Amazon as well.

Somewhat Before came out really well. I’m very proud of it, and if you’re a fan of Somewhat Alive at all, you’ll definitely want to read this one.

I’m considering coming up with some sort of prequel or bonus chapter for The Fiercest Chicken in the Bookstore, but I don’t know if the magic will happen a second time. One thing that I love about Somewhat Before is that you can read it before you read Somewhat Alive or after you read Somewhat Alive. And it’s fine either way.

You won’t get spoilers if you read Somewhat Before first, which I think is really important for prequels.

If you have read The Fiercest Chicken in the Bookstore and are interested in a prequel, let me know! It’d probably just be a novella, similar to Somewhat Before, but there are a lot of unexplored backstories we could dive into. We’ll see!
