Too Cold

We spent last week in Nashville, which was not good. Our visit happened to coincide with a winter storm and arctic blast and record lows and all that fun stuff. It’s an interesting fact that I’ve never actually driven in snow before. I got my driver’s license in Florida and then snowy driving just never really happened. I guess if I was ever unlucky enough to end up in the snow, I’d just stay home until it was over.

Sort of like bears, actually. I think brown bears are really onto something with the whole hibernation thing. Imagine if nobody had to leave the house all winter and could just stay inside and take naps until it was warm again!

I suppose in Florida, you’d just have a few days of winter here and there, but that’d be okay. It’s beautifully warm out this week and I’m still basking in the delight of stepping outside without a coat, hat, gloves, etc.

Winter just needs so much stuff. When it’s warm out, you just get dressed and then you’re done. Maybe bring a sweater in case some place is blasting the AC (they often are), but there’s no need for all these extra outer layers of clothing.

One of my favorite songs to play when it’s cold outside is A Cold Christmas by Black Eyed Peas. Generally speaking, come January, I don’t want to hear a single Christmas song for the rest of my life, but I make an exception for A Cold Christmas but only when it’s really and truly Too Cold.

As far as I know, it’s not available on any album, so we listen to the YouTube recording of them performing it live at Magic Kingdom during the Disney Parks Christmas special last year. I really hope they release it for real someday.

Anyway, as you might guess, traveling last week was not good for me finishing up Somewhat Unreal. I feel like I’ve been so close to finishing it, with only maybe two chapters and an epilogue to go. I can even envision all the scenes in my head and I know how it’s all going to play out, but I just can’t seem to find the time to knock it out.

Hopefully, now that the holidays are over and we don’t have any travel planned for a bit, it’ll be starting to move more quickly. I can’t wait for everyone to read it!
